Sunday seen a great game between Mossend FC 97′s and Aston Villa.
If Mossend won, then they would win the league.
At half time Mossend trailed 3-1. After the break and with the gale now at their backs.
It kicks off at great pace and within minutes Mossend pull one back, then another, what a game.
With two mins to go it was 5-4 to Mossend……Nearly there. Then Villa raced in to the Mossend box a great tackle by the Mossend defence and the villa player fell over……Penalty……Never.
5-5 So it ended with a draw. Well done to both teams, both were excellent. Villa had it 1st half and with Mossend the better in the 2nd half.
Now Villa have a couple more games. Tuesday sees them take on Yett Farm. A Yett farm win sees Mossend win the league……MON YETT FARM.

Strathaven Dynamo (99s) 3 Mossend (99s) 1
A very competitive game with Mossend playing some good football and leading
1-0 at half time through a Flynn Menzies goal.Unfortunately only to lose 3 in
the second half being on the wrong side of some poor decisions but all credit
they never let the heads go down and continued to play with spirit to
the end of the game.

A cracking game between 2 teams eager to win and played in great spirit. Mossend started the poorer and the rain didn’t help either. We played into Mill Utd’s hands in the first half and with a minute to go ’til half time Mill Utd opened the scoring. A team talk at half time saw us open the second ahlf by going another goal down. However we rallied well and played some great football with Eddie Coakley & Nathan Liddell combining on the right and Ciaran Clarke finishing with a nonchalant flick past the keeper to bring us back into the game.We continued in this form and came close a few times before Ciaran Clarke was put through again and he calmly rounded the keeper to score into an empty net. We were in my (and other Mossend supporters) mind denied a penalty in the last 10 minutes as Ciaran Clarke was fouled from behind as he was through on goal. However the game ended a draw and as was noted from the sidelines “It looked like Mossend made 11 substitutions at half Time” Such was the improvement in our play. Well done guys lets keep up the committment and attitude to the end of the season.

Moorlands 5 Mossend FC 98′s 1
This game was done and dusted by 25 mins as we again failed to pose any aggression onto our opposition and they were 3-0 up and we were floundering. Thankfully we found some degree effort and Ciaran Clarke scored a well worked goal between him and Eddie Coakley. The first half ended 5-1 to moorlands and after a frank and honest half-time team talk we went out in the second half and imposed ourselves on the game and gave a better account of ourselves and were the better team in the second half and limited the opposition to very few chances. A better second half performance that we need to take into our remaining games in the league.
Mossend FC 97′s 3 Yett Farm 1
The 98′s went down 0 – 1, however equalised through Ryan Duddy. Going in at half time 1-1.
A stern talking to at half time brought Mossend out fighting.
2-1 to Mossend goal from Connor McGurk then Michael Houston finished them off witha fine effort 3-1 to Mossend and a very well deserved victory.
We won’t mention their unbeaten run. We will see if we can get an interview with the coaching staff of the 98′s over the next few weeks.

EDENVALE 1 MOSSEND 3
This was another good win for MOSSEND 97’S , a closely fought game with both keepers making fantastic saves early in the match , before Edenvale opened the scoring . MOSSEND responded in excellent fashion and played some great passing football , with midfielder JOSH FARRELL scoring a wonderful hat trick , Man Of The Match……well with a sublime hat rick….it has to be JOSH FARRELL. Well done Josh.
Mossend FC 98′s 7 Blackburn Rovers 0
This quarter final was played in beautiful sunshine and was a great performance from the boys. An excellent performance throughout the team. First half goals from Nathan Liddell (2) (although his second was meant to be a cross) & Craig McGrath seen the half time result be 3-0. The second half was better than the first and the boys again improved on their first half attempts and were brilliant in possession and worked the ball all over the pitch resulting in another 4 goals from Ciaran Clarke (3) and Eddie Coakley. A well deserved win and one of our best games in a long time. Well done boys very proud of you all. The semi finals are waiting …… We will look forward to the Semi final.

Around 500 youngsters from across Lanarkshire strapped on their shinpads and boots to take part in the 14th annual Easter Festival of Football.
Held at East Kilbride’s Brancumhall football pitches, the event brought youth teams from acrossLanarkshire together for the chance to test their skills against each other.
The annual tournament is organised by Mossend Football Club in partnership with Choose Life and Strathclyde Police and aims to encourage kids to stay active and learn more about the game in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere.
After the players had been put through their paces on the park, each youngster was presented with a trophy in recognition of their achievements.
Billy McQueen, Mossend secretary said he was delighted with the response of the kids involved.
He said: “We started preparing for this six months ago. We invite along teams who have played or worked with us previously and that has really helped foster a real friendly atmosphere and the kids absolutely love it.
“We want our kids to enjoy the sport and learn more about it and you can see on their faces just how much they enjoy it.
“We also try and get across to them the importance of making good lifestyle choices, so we have milk and fruit that have been kindly donated to us and we hand that out to them for free.
“When it all comes together it’s a great day out for them and I think they really appreciate it.”
