UPDATE 12/08/10: Letter from Milton Rovers

Dear All,

I have attached a copy of the LDYFA rules which, on the whole, we will be following on Sunday. There are however a couple of amendments which Milton Rovers will be putting in place on the day.

1. As per my previous emails, all games will last for a straight 20 minutes with no half time as opposed to two halves of 15 minutes each.
2. With regard to goalkeepers, the pitches are not the longest and as such most goalkeepers at our age group can kick the ball way beyond the halfway line. To stop play from constantly being brought back we have introduced a rule that all goalkeepers have to roll the ball out instead of kicking. To give defenders a chance all opposition players should backtrack to halfway and allow the defender 2 touches to get the ball under control before they can challenge. Milton Rovers will have referees in place to ensure that the rule is fair for all teams.

Aside from the rules for the tournament, I have been asked to let everyone know that Milton Rovers will also have café open in the pavilion which will serve hot rolls, crisps, snacks, hot and cold drinks etc throughout the morning.

Cheers,
Ally

Two of our Mossend FC 2001 Players have been lucky enough to be attending the pilot programme for this Player Development Academy for a few months now and the feedback received so far has been very good and the skills the boys have been learning has improved the boys game play.

If you would like to attend this NEW Player Development Academy please download the form and contact Steven Hamilton or Michelle Broadley directly (details on the form). Remember to get in there quickly to secure your place!

Word from the Coaches

Season 2009/2010 has ended and the coaches would just like to say:

Coach Gerry: Looking back on the season that’s just been I have to say I’ve seen a steady improvement in the players and more significantly a great improvement in the players as a team. It’s been good to see all the boys gel together and working for each other week in week out. I’ve asked every week for the boys to deliver and they haven’t disappointed, plus its actually entertaining watching the boys play as some of the performances we’ve seem in some weeks is sometimes better than what you watch on TV :D
Enjoy the summer break boys and I look forward to you returning to training and preparing for a new season in August. Well Done boys you are all Superstars :)

Coach Billy:  I’d like to start by saying thank you to the real stars of this year……The parents!!!. Well if it was not for them having the boys at training and getting up very early every morning, then this year would have not have been as FANTASTIC as it has been. Well done to all the coaches for their selfless dedication and hard work (FANTASTIC). a special mention to Mark Leonard for his very hard work setting up and running our very successful Sportsman Dinner (FANTASTIC).
Now for the true stars of this year. The 20 boys of Mossend FC 2001.
I remember last year looking at the boys in the year above us and thinking….We will never be passing and scoring like them.
Well boys I was right, we are passing the ball better than them and oh boy are we scoring some fantastic goals (FANTASTIC).
The goalies….some of they saves they pulled off have been FANTASTIC. I’ve seen myself think how did he save that one (FANTASTIC). They have won us games when it really mattered.
Defence some fantastic defending and pushing the attack forward (FANTASTIC) even a few goals chipped in for good measure (FANTASTIC). They have won us games when it really mattered.
Midfield, well run the show, just the way that they should FANTASTIC. The goals, tackling and pushing us forward from midfield have been Fantastic. They have won us games when it really mattered.
Strikers, doing what they do best, scoring goals, FANTASTIC. They have won us games when it really mattered.
Overall if I was to give one word to sum up this season it would be……….Yes you’ve guessed it……..FANTASTIC.
Boys you have treated all of us watching the games to some truly FANTASTIC football this season, so I only have two questions…..
1 Can you do better next year?
2 WHO ARE WE????????
Well done to all the boys, all the parents and all the coaching staff of Mossend FC 2001 for a FANTASTIC season.

Coach William: An absolute fantastic season the team is going from strength to strength. The standard of football for a team of this age group is superb well done for all your hard work this season. I’m very proud to be part of this very talented team so take a bow boys. Well Done.

Coach John: Well what can i say , if carlsberg done football seasons that would be the one I asked for !
The 10 boys in the black team have been SUPERB all year. We have played with the style of Barcelona at times , one two football , brillant passing moves , ROCKET shots from everywhere ,  last ditch defending and superb goalkeeping saves from all our keepers.
We have also shown that although we are doing well , with hard work and practice and listening to what the coaches are telling us , there is still room for us all , the 12 of us , the 2 coaches as well , we can all get better and continue to have fun at the same time.
The Black team this year have done very well , winning 5 out of 5 at the Easter Festival was brilliant and I know whoever or wherever we play we will always get stuck in .
This year the Black team have secured a champions league spot but should be pushing next year for the title ……………..
