POST MATCH ANALYSIS: EK Burgh v Mossend FC

BLACK TEAM:
1st game
The blacks started off slowly in this opening game of the new season.struggling to find there usual free flowing passing football on the grass pitch.to there credit they got stuck in and despite creating a number of guilt edge chances could not capatalise on them.the blacks were well worth a victory despite a below par performance.

2nd game
the blacks came out with all guns blazing in the second match , much more like there usual displays.they raced into a commanding lead with a much improved team performance.
both coaches happy with todays effort and expect more from all the boys in the coming season.

YELLOW TEAM: What a start to the season from the Yellow Team with two fantastic wins over EK Burgh. First game the boys were banging the goals in from all angles. Second game was a more hard fought match with the teams even at half-time, but the determination and the total team spirit from all the players came through in the second half with Mossend taking the lead and winning the game by two goals. Well done boys and long may it continue.

UPDATE 12/08/10: Letter from Milton Rovers

Dear All,

I have attached a copy of the LDYFA rules which, on the whole, we will be following on Sunday. There are however a couple of amendments which Milton Rovers will be putting in place on the day.

1. As per my previous emails, all games will last for a straight 20 minutes with no half time as opposed to two halves of 15 minutes each.
2. With regard to goalkeepers, the pitches are not the longest and as such most goalkeepers at our age group can kick the ball way beyond the halfway line. To stop play from constantly being brought back we have introduced a rule that all goalkeepers have to roll the ball out instead of kicking. To give defenders a chance all opposition players should backtrack to halfway and allow the defender 2 touches to get the ball under control before they can challenge. Milton Rovers will have referees in place to ensure that the rule is fair for all teams.

Aside from the rules for the tournament, I have been asked to let everyone know that Milton Rovers will also have café open in the pavilion which will serve hot rolls, crisps, snacks, hot and cold drinks etc throughout the morning.

Cheers,
Ally

What a wonderful day

I have to say yesterday’s Caledonian Tournament at Prestwick was wonderful.

The weather was great, the supporters were fantastic and the Mossend players were brilliant.

Well done everyone for making the last games and event of the season 2009/2010 a wonderful success.

What I think was more amazing was no one was sick on the bus home, especially after those cheese burgers after the tournament ended :D

Already looking forward to the start of next season :)

Goodbye for now and enjoy the summer holidays boys.

INFORMATION: Caledonian Football Tournament (Saturday 19th June 2010)

The Bus will be leaving from Cardinal Newman High School at 1100am on Saturday 19th June 2010 for travel to Academy Park, Prestwick. Cars can be left in the School car park.

MAP FOR ACADEMY PARK CLICK HERE

Tournament registration finishes at 1230pm and we require all players not traveling on the Bus to be at Academy Park prior to this registration time. Please note if you are taking your Car that there are restrict parking restrictions in place around the Academy Park which may result in you getting clamped if you do not abide by them, see the Caledonian Tournament Newsletter below for more information.

Tournament officially kicks-off at 1pm and will finish around 4pm.

As the boys will be representing Mossend Football Club, we would like them to come fully kitted out with their Saturday home strip on and their full tracksuit on. It might also be good for them to bring their bags with Mossend FC rainjacket in it, also additional items might include a towel and suntan lotion? Who knows what the weather is going to be like?

Caledonia Football Tournament will be played on 3G Astroturf and Grass pitches, so I’d bring both types of football boots as we are unsure what pitches we will actually be playing on.

Mossend FC 2001 will NOT be supplying food, refreshments or supervison during non-game playing time for players during this tournament, so it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure the player has adequate water/sports drinks, eats responsibly and behaves responsibly as they are there representing Mossend Football Club.

Finally enjoy the tournament everyone and remember to bring your scarfs, flags, horns, rattles, hooters, Vuvuzela’s, etc… to show your support for MOSSSEND!

POST MATCH ANALYSIS: Mossend FC v Calderbraes (Friendly Game)

Calderbraes from the Coatbridge League visited Sir Matt Busby’s on Saturday for a friendly game and everyone was treated to some great games of football from both teams. The Mossend FC Yellows and Blacks played the way they have been playing all season and put in a superb performance winning all their games. Its looking good for the Caledonian Football Tournament next Saturday boys! :)

Thank you very much to Calderbraes for visiting us and we look forward to a replay at Calderbraes home ground soon? :)

NEXT GAME: Friendly Mossend FC v Calderbraes

We will be holding Training this Friday 11th June at the usual time of 6pm at John Paul School, Viewpark and we have arranged a Friendly match with Calderbraes on the Saturday 12th June for 1030am at Sir Matt Busby’s, Bellshill.

Can we ask ALL parents to stay behind at the end of the Calderbraes game as we want to size all the boys for next seasons football kit.

POST MATCH ANALYSIS: Jerviston v Mossend FC

Yellow Team: First game against Jerviston was a game of two halves, first half was a close game with Mossend mostly on the back foot, but still managed to break quickly and score, but it was Jerviston who finished the half in the lead and the second half they couldn’t stop as Mossend’s defensive qualities fell apart. Jerviston won the first game, but a team talk by the coaches seemed to spur the boys on as the second game was more of an evenly matched affair.
Second game Jerviston would score, but Mossend just kept replying right away equalising everytime. The weaknesses in defence from the first game where non-existent and the boys showed us some entertaining football and a quick well thought out short corner in the last seconds of the game resulted in a beautiful chip over the goalie and a 3-3 final score. Team work in the second game was outstanding and you did yourselves proud boys, well done.

Black Team: Mossend started a little sluggish something you cant do against quality team like jerviston, second half played better scoring a superb well worked goal.with mossend doing most of the pressing just not getting the breaks ran out of time and luck.2nd match started well taken a early lead with another superb move but all went wrong when the injuries started to pile up losing 2 key players soon to be 3 with at one point playing with only 6 players.A brave performance with the boys left on and a fine display from Ben in goal.A tough game to finish what has been a fantastic season for Mossend well done boys for your hard work and effort.

POST MATCH ANALYSIS: Mossend FC v E.K.Y.C.

The newly formed E.K.Y.C. made their first ever visit to John Paul School on Saturday 22nd May 2010 to play Mossend FC. For a club which has only been going for 4 months they played some very good football. Well done everyone and we look forward to meeting you again next season.

YELLOW TEAM: On what was a very sunny and very hot Saturday morning the boys showed some great levels of fitness to last both games and still put in a brilliant performance. First game was the hardest with the sides even for most of the game, but Mossend FC proved their character with a few late and stunning goals. Second game the heat increased and the performance from Mossend FC increased as we went on a goalfest in the second half of the game, we even got a wonderful RIGHT FOOT strike by our left footed central midfielder! :) Well Done Boys for showing some great team spirit and for working together as a team.

BLACK TEAM: The hottest day of the year was not going to put off Mossend Blacks with some superb passing and shouts of “let the ball do the work” from coaches ,The blacks were always in control and won  with ease and keeping another clean sheet. The second match the blacks fell behind but there never say die attitude saw them through with 2 stunning strikes to get them in the lead before half time with this E.K.Y.C had no reply ,the blacks going on to win with a 4 goal  margin.
With the Mossend 2001′s moving to Matt Busby next season I have put together some J.P stats of every home game from aug 08 -may ’10 Black Team Only

Both coaches are very proud of these stats and i can speak for all coaches in saying that 2001′s have  had a fantastic season and looking for continuous  improvement into next season.
